MV Tethys Supporter
|
The MV Tethys Supporter is a 36-meter support vessel based in the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. With large aft deck spaces, twin-engine propulsion and long endurance, the vessel is ideally suited for offshore missions in East Africa and the greater Indian Ocean region.
Ergonomically designed to maximize both space and safety elements, the Tethys Supporter provides comfortable accommodation for 8 crew members and up to 11 additional personnel. |
Background
The MV Tethys Supporter was built in 1978 as a pollution control vessel (designation KBV004) for the Swedish Coast Guard, where she was deployed until being purchased by Husvik Shipping in 2010.
Re-named the Husvik Supporter and with the installation of a new Dynamic Positioning system, the vessel was utilized in a variety of functions, including several projects in the North Sea and Irish Sea in diving operations for wind farms, ROV operations and the removal of old naval mines.
After a lengthy search for a new vessel to complement the MV Maya's Dugong in the Indian Ocean, she was purchased in early 2013 under the Ocean Odysseys umbrella to support the needs of maritime and offshore operations for East Africa and the Indian Ocean, from its new base in Seychelles.
